Greetings Fellow Bears,
I would like to invite all our members to participate in AIDS Walk Orlando this year. I have organized The Bears of Central Florida as a team for AIDS Walk 2010. There is no minimum of people or money required. Each walker that raises $100 will receive an official AIDS Walk Orlando t-shirt. The walker who collects the most money wins a trophy and prize.
I encourage all our members to get involved with AIDS Walk 2010 this year. We hope to have a lot of people out there representing our club at the AIDS Walk in Orlando. I also would like to ask our club members to donate to our team via the website (www.aidswalkorlando.org). I am personally donating $100 to our team, The Bears of Central Florida. I would like to see all of our members donate their time/money for such a great cause. With your help, we can make a difference!
Hope and Help of Central Florida started AIDS Walk Orlando in 1995. Over the years this event has grown by your participation! And only with your participation can they continue to raise funds to help those affected by HIV/AIDS in our Central Florida community.
AIDS Walk Orlando will be held on Saturday April 24, 2010. It starts and ends at the Lake Eola/Walt Disney World Amphitheater in Downtown Orlando on Rosiland Street. The AIDS Walk will consist of three laps around the lake or 3 kilometers (1.86 miles).
On-site registration will begin at 8:00am, opening remarks will begin at 8:45am. The walk will commence at 9:00am and the closing remarks and awards will be given out at 10:00am. In the last three years AIDS Walk Orlando has had over 1,000 participants. This year they are shooting for 1,500. The more people that participate, the more money they raise!
If you have people who do not want to donate online via the website, you can collect cash/check donations in your walker envelope (available from Hope & Help) and bring it with you on the day of the walk. The Hope and Help Center of Central Florida, Inc., a 501 (C) (3). All the money raised stays in Central Florida to help our neighbors in need.
Parking for the event would be the downtown Library garage as it will be the closest location to the event. It will cost you $.50 per hour.
You can also bring your dog to the AIDS Walk, your dog can even register as a participant and raise donations as well. A prize and trophy will be awarded for Orlando’s Top Dog, the dog that raises the most money!
If anyone is interested in becoming part of our walking team, please contact me at events@bocf.org.
We hope to see you there!
